A Tea Journey: The History and Lore of Tea
Our most popular program − a delightful trip through the
annals of tea that incorporates a brief foray into the history of the
tea plant and the tea trade with stories ranging from the introduction
of tea to Europe and America to the birth of Afternoon Tea, the tea bag,
iced tea and Taking Tea in Victorian times. The purported health
benefits of tea are touched upon as well. Learn to brew a 'proper pot of
tea'. Also includes a brief discussion of processing and tea types.
Augmented by slides and handouts.

Tea and Roses
This program features a discussion of the Chinese and
European origins of the world’s favorite flower, the ROSE, and relates
that to the development of tea drinking in both cultures. It includes
descriptions of the many different types of Heritage Roses, which are
accompanied by slides of the more important varieties of each of these
roses. The planting and care of Heritage Roses is also addressed. The
program is augmented by slides and handouts. |

|
A Tea Tasting
A more in-depth look at the production, processing,
types, and countries of origin of tea. With an accompanying discussion
of ‘How to Tea Taste’ and a tasting of six different teas.
Augmented by slides and handouts this program will expand
your tea drinking horizons. This program is limited to 20 participants
and is a perfect way to introduce your friends to the pleasures of
drinking fine leaf tea. Participants must provide their own tea
cups...all teacups have a story! |
|

|
|
The Health Benefits and Chemistry of Tea
A specialized program directed at
the group that wants a more detailed explanation of the chemicals in tea
that are responsible for many of the reported health benefits of
drinking white, green, oolong and black teas. The latest findings on
these benefits will also be presented. This is a very technical program
- a basic understanding of organic chemistry is useful for the total
enjoyment of this program.

Teapot Cozy Workshop
A fun-filled workshop where the
participants learn about the history of the Teapot Cozy - both sewn/quilted and
knitted. Attendees are given a Teapot Cozy pattern (sewn or knitted-your
choice) and can actually come away with their very own completed sewn/quilted
cozy or the beginnings of a hand-knit cozy. Participants must provide
their own sewing machines, fabric and/or knitting needles and yarn.
Fabric and yarn requirements are provided to attendees one month before
the program date. |
